Tales from a Web Librarian

Banned Books Week 2015

While at ALA this year, I happened upon a certain booth with a certain collection of books. These books had been deemed "inappropriate" for general consumption and so shunned from certain libraries and booksellers, carted off with big giant "BANNED" stamps across their covers. One of these books happened to be my favorite of all time, the one that started my reading obsession, and the one that changed my life. In honor of Banned Book Week 2015, here I am reading a passage from this very dangerous novel.

During the 2015 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference, SAGE and the ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom co-sponsored a Virtual Read-Out booth. For more information on how you can participate in the Banned Books Virtual Read-Out, please visit http://ow.ly/BFxGY.
